Financial support from CnaG for bilingual signs 07-0810th April 2008 Comunn na Gàidhlig (CnaG) is pleased to publish the list of organisations which received support from us towards using bilingual signs. This list demonstrates that more and more companies are using bilingual signs throughout Scotland and in different ways. Have a look at the information below for more detail. We are looking forward to making further progress this financial year with more companies recognising the benefits of using Gaelic. Further information about our support for businesses can be found here North West Outdoors: We supported this outdoors shop in Ullapool with a larger external sign. www.northwestoutdoors.co.uk North West Foodstore, Kyle of Lochalsh: Support with an external name sign. The company report increased customer recognition as a result of the sign. J M Joinery: We were very happy to support this joinery company who painted their new van in a bilingual style. Detail Events:This company, who organise outdoor events, created large bilingual banners which were used at events throughout the Highlands. These resources will be used again in the Summer of 2008. www.allinthedetail.com Aultguish Inn:North Kessock Equine Vets: This new business is deserving of much praise due to their support for the Gaelic language. The business is a model of good practice building in bilingual signs into their core business. www.kessockequinevets.co.uk Roybridge Memorial Hall: We were very happy to support this community facility with their new bilingual banners in the hall. Illustrated with pictures, these banners explain the history of the hall. Cuil na Sithe: This Bed and Breakfast is situated in Fort William (Lochyside) and they recognised the benefits of using bilingual signs and raising the profile of their business. We wish them every success in the future. www.cornerofheaven.co.uk An Tuireann: We supported this community arts organisation in Port Rìgh and were sorry to hear when they went into administration shortly afterwards. Alzheimers Scotland: Another area and another new development. We were only too happy to receive an application from this group based in Oban. They branded their minibus in a biligual style. Lochaber College: As part of a wider development of the college, a new bilingual sign was erected showing the layout of the building. Claire Whyman: CnaG assisted this new company in Stornoway with a bilingual advert on Isles FM. www.highlandoptometrist.com Achmore Gardens: This historical site is situated on the Isle of Gigha and famous for the variety of plants and trees found in the gardens. The Island Trust erected a bilingual sign with support from CnaG. www.gigha.org.uk Golspie Heritage Society: We were very keen to support this community organisation with their new bilingual sign situated beside the road. Ardenbeg Hostel: This business is situated in Strathspey and offers self-catering and hostel accommodation. Historically this area has not shown the same interest in bilingual signs but with support from CnaG we hope to change this over the coming years. www.ardenbeg.co.uk The Howard Doris Centre: This facility is in Lochcarron and with support from Comunn na Gàidhlig they were able to purchase a new bilingual sign for use through the day outside their premises. Portnellan Lodges: Building on the success of their previous bilingual signs, this company returned and received further support. We were very happy to support them again, this time with roadside signs. Comunn Muinntir Ratharsair: Very close to the end of the financial year, we heard that redevelopment was taking place on the community hall in Raasay. We supported the project and enabled them to use a Gaelic sign and Gaelic branding on the windows. |
