Foghlam 's Pàrantan

Tha ochd teaghlaichean bho tìr-mòr le clann a tha a’ faighinn Foghlam Tro Mheadhan na Gàidhlig ann an Inbhir Nis, Drochaid na Banna, Inbhir Pheofharain agus Ulapul a’ gabhail pàirt ann am pròiseact far am bheil iad ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig. Tha am pròiseact ur seo air a chuir air chois le Comunn na Gàidhlig.

Thuirt Dòmhnall Màrtainn, Ceannard Chomunn na Gàidhlig, “An dèidh iarrtasan airson -seòrsa cùrsa seo, tha sinn le taic bho Bhòrd na Gàidhlig, air cùrsa fad seachdain a chuir air dòigh ann an Leòdhas do theaghlaichean le clann a tha a’ frithealadh Aonadan Foghlam Gàidhlig ach far nach eil Gàidhlig aig na pàrantan. Bidh sinn a’ cleachdadh an dòigh teagasg Làn Bhogadh a tha air a’ chuir air adhart le Comhairle na Sgoiltean Àraich far am bheil an cànan air ionnsachadh do dh’ inbhich chan ann an seòmar teagaisg ach fhads a tha iad a’ dèanamh obair dachaigh. Gach madainn bidh a’ chlann a’ dol gu Talla na h-Airde còmhla ri Sradagan an Rubha airson geamachan agus cuir-seachadan agus a’ tighinn còmhla ris an còrr den teaghlach gach feasgar airson cuairtean feadh nan eilean. Bu mhath leinn buannachdan an t-seòrsa cùrsa seo a mheasadh thairis air an t-seachdain agus tha sinn an dòchas gun urrainn dhuinn taic leantainneach a thoirt do na pàrantan nuair a thilleas iad dhachaigh gus am brosnachadh gus cumail a’ dol ag ionnsachadh a’ chànain còmhla ri an cuid cloinne .”

New Gaelic Family Holidays Launched

20th July 2006

Eight mainland families, whose children are attending Gaelic Medium Education in Inverness, Bonar Bridge, Dingwall and Ullapool are taking part in a pilot project organised by Comunn na Gàidhlig.

“In response to initial enquires for this type of course we have, with assistance from Bòrd na Gàidhlig, organised a week long course in Lewis for families whose children are attending Gaelic Medium Units but where the parents are not Gaelic speakers”, explains Chief Executive Donald Martin. “ We are using the Total Immersion method of teaching being promoted by Comhairle nan Sgoiltean Àraich where the language is taught to the adults not in a classroom situation, but in the home through daily domestic activities. The children will be joining Sradagan an Rubha for morning sporting and leisure activities through Gaelic in Aird Hall and will be joining up with their families for afternoon visits throughout the islands. We are anxious to assess the benefits of this type of course over the week and hope that we can provide on-going support for the parents when they return home in order to encourage them to continue to learn the language along with their children.”
