Support for small projects
CnaG runs a scheme which is open to community groups. This scheme is for small scale projects and different from the Gaelic in the Community Scheme which is now closed.
Requests for funding should be directed to Bòrd na Gàidhlig in the first instance as the national funding body for Gaelic.
We assess all applications to this scheme according to the following criteria:

Please tell us:
- The name of your organisation
- The name of your chairperson
- The name of your secretary
- The name of your treasurer

2. Please tell us the address of your organisation. All correspondence will go to this address. |
3. What sort of organisation is your group? Please tell us a little bit about yourselves and any Gaelic-related activities that you undertake.

4. When was your organisation established? Please tell us the year and also if you have a formal constitution. You should provide a copy of your constitution when submitting your application. |
5. What is the name of your project? This should be different from the name of your group. |
6. This section is where you will tell us about the costs associated with your project. You should give a detailed explanation on a separate sheet of paper if there are many separate costs. We will consider all requests under the following headings:
- Staffing costs
- Events
- Equipment
- Buildings
All costs where a service is sought from another company should be accompanied by quotes. Please show the total costs for your project. |
7. Where will you receive funding for your project? Please tell us where you are applying for funding in addition to Comunn na Gàidhlig. The maximum assistance level that Comunn na Gàidhlig can consider is 60% under normal circumstances. |
8. The total income should equal the total costs as detailed in section six. This is the total income for the project. |
9. Please complete the information on your bank account. |
10. This section gives you the opportunity to tell us about your project. You should explain clearly how your project will strengthen the Gaelic Language. We are seeking projects that strengthen Gaelic at all levels and which could lead to an increase in the number of Gaelic speakers.
If you intend to employ someone please tell us their working hours and responsibilities. Employees should be able to speak Gaelic.
With events, you should detail specific costs and how the event will strengthen Gaelic.
For equipment, quotes from suppliers must be supplied.
Requests for funding towards building costs can be considered but you should discuss this with us before submitting an application.
Where possible, you should aim to use companies based in Scotland. |
11. The application form must be signed and dated by one of your office bearers and sent to us at the address detailed. |
We cannot consider requests where the project has already commenced and where Gaelic is not an integral part of the project. |
