20 Gaelic schoolchildren took part in a ‘Play in a Day’ event in Glasgow on Saturday October 31st. The session was arranged by Comunn na Gàidhlig and CL&DRG and hosted by Culture and Sport Glasgow in the Mitchell Library.
After a series of workshops each of which produced a short drama piece the children performed the plays that they had prepared during the day. The parents had the opportunity to see the drama pieces before session finished during the afternoon; many of them did so and thoroughly enjoyed them!
Each participant was involved in at least two drama pieces. They pieces were based on movement, use of new drama skills and their own ideas.
Arthur Donald who co-ordinated the drama said
“I enjoyed the day, every participant had skills and ability and that made it easier to prepare the drama pieces. The children learned new skills from working with each other while having lots of fun.”
Eddy Cavin of Culture and Sport Glasgow and member of CL&DRG added
“This was a good example of co-operative work between CnaG, CLAD and CSG leading to an enjoyable day for all with the children using and developing their Gaelic outwith a classroom setting. I look forward to more such events.”
